Escape Rooms in Washington, DC

Escape The Room is the only escape room brand in DC with two locations — and that's not an accident. We opened Penn Quarter first, steps from the National Mall and Gallery Place. Then we added I Street NW for the K Street crowd, the Dupont crowd, and anyone who just wants more rooms to conquer. Between the two spots, you've got eight completely different experiences: spy thrillers, underwater rescues, dinosaur labs, Wild West heists, archaeological digs, a pandemic outbreak, and DC's only Quiz Boxing arena.

Every room comes with a dedicated game master, unlimited hints, and 60 minutes of pure problem-solving chaos. We're open 10AM to 11PM daily, both locations are Metro-accessible, and prices start at $37/person. Whether it's date night, a birthday, or your team's quarterly outing — this beats another dinner reservation.

Team Building in DC

DC runs on teams — and ours is the team building that actually works. With two locations and eight rooms, we can handle groups of any size. Split your team across rooms, run a competition-style format, and let the puzzle-solving panic do the bonding for you. Law firms, agencies, nonprofits, tech companies — they all keep coming back because it works better than another offsite with a PowerPoint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about escape rooms at our DC locations.

Where are the two DC locations?

Penn Quarter: 409 7th St NW (Gallery Place Metro). I Street: 1720 I St NW (Farragut North Metro). They're about 1.5 miles apart — both are downtown and Metro-accessible.

Do both locations have the same rooms?

Mostly different! Penn Quarter has Jurassic Escape, The Dig, and The Agency. I Street has Quiz Boxing, The Agency, The Outbreak, Old West Bank Heist, and The Submarine. The Agency is at both, but the other seven are unique to each spot.

What is Quiz Boxing?

Quiz Boxing is a head-to-head competitive trivia experience at our I Street location. Teams square off in a custom arena across multiple rounds. Choose themes like TV & cinema, music, sports, history, or fun specials like Best of the 80's and Taylor Swift. It's not an escape room — it's a different beast entirely.

Is there parking near the DC locations?

Street meters and garages are available near both spots, but this is DC — Metro is your friend. Penn Quarter is steps from Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red/Yellow/Green lines). I Street is a block from Farragut North (Red) and Farragut West (Blue/Orange/Silver).

Can kids do the escape rooms?

Ages 8 and up with an adult. Old West Bank Heist at I Street is our most popular family pick, and our game masters keep younger groups moving with extra hints when needed.

How much does an escape room cost in DC?

Prices start from $37 per person and vary by room and time slot. Group discounts are available for larger parties. Gift cards can also be applied at checkout.

Can I book a private escape room?

Yes — you can upgrade to a private room at checkout so it's just your group. Popular for date nights and birthday parties where you don't want to puzzle-solve with strangers.

Why DC Loves Escape The Room

DC has no shortage of things to do — but most of them involve staring at something behind a velvet rope. Escape The Room is the opposite: you're inside the experience, solving problems with the people you came with, and nobody's checking their phone for 60 straight minutes. Two locations means you can hit Penn Quarter before a Caps game or I Street after work on K Street. Either way, you're walking out with a better story than "we went to dinner."
